A single valuation number is a lie of false precision.

You type in the car. The tool says €18,400. Clean, confident, done.

But think about what that number is hiding.

Is it €18,400 give or take €200? Or give or take €2,500?

Those are completely different decisions. One you can buy on today. The other should make you slow down and look closer.

A single number can't tell you the difference. It gives you the same crisp digits whether the market is thick with comparable cars or there are three on the whole continent and none of them quite match.

Confidence is the missing field on most valuation screens. And it's the one that actually decides whether you should trust the price.

Honest tools do two things a single number never will:

→ They show a range, so you can see how sure the estimate really is.

→ They show their sources, so you can check the reasoning instead of taking it on faith.

When the range is tight and the comps are strong, move. When it's wide, that's not a flaw in the tool - that's the tool telling you the truth about a hard car.

The number isn't the answer. The number plus its confidence is.

Honest question for the dealers here: the valuation tool you use every day - do you actually know how confident it is on any given car? Or does it just hand you a number and walk away?
